Water Damage

How long does it take to dry my home or business after a flood?

This is a complicated question because no water damage is alike. However, there are also several similarities in water damages.

When water impacts your home, it can impact carpet, drywall, flooring, and insulation. The general rule is the denser the building material, the longer it takes to dry. For instance, hardwood floors can take 5-10 days, but carpeting can dry in as little as one day. Another example is drywall. Drywall with paint can dry quickly, usually in 2-5 days, if the drying contractor is experienced. The wallboard with wallpaper covering will almost never dry without removing the wallpaper.

In short, a professional restoration contractor should know all the methods to dry your home or business safely and prevent mold or bacteria that can develop if not dried properly.
